Or, do you ever get home from the super market only to notice that you forgot half the items you planned on purchasing? Is copying new, unfamiliar information/ terms off the white board difficult and tedious for your child? If so, you or your child may have lower working memory.

In this short two an a half minute podcast excerpt I chatted with the fascinating ‪creativity‬, ‪giftedness‬ and ‪#education‬ researcher C. Matthew Fugate, PhD about his research which indicates a relationship between *lower* working memory and higher levels of creativity and divergent thinking.

A bit about Matthew : Matthew received his doctorate in Gifted, Creative, and Talented Studies at Purdue University. Matthew worked as an elementary teacher in the Houston Independent School District where he also served as a Gifted Coordinator and Magnet Coordinator. During this time, he received his Masters in Educational Psychology, Gifted Education from the University of Connecticut. Matthew’s current research focus is twice exceptionality.
